NaNoWriMo is coming up in November...

...and I'm strongly considering participating!  Maybe.  I think.

I say I'm going to do this every November.  I've never actually done it.  The timing has always been very wrong.  But this year it just might be right.  I'm very nearly finished with the novel I'm currently working on--ELIXIR--and this might just be what I'm looking for to get me started on something new.

For those who don't know what it is... National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo for short) is held in November. Participants begin writing on November 1st, and set out to write 50,000 words by November 30th (yep, that's 1667 words a day). The focus is the output--quantity not quality. No editing. No worrying. Just writing.

And yet, the whole concept freaks me out.   Maybe because I am the world's slowest writer ever!  Pressure doesn't help me write much faster either.  Anyway, I'm thinking about doing it.  Anyone else out there considering it?

I'm THINKING about it. Like you, I'm a little hesitant. I've already got so much on my plate... Guess we'll see what happens when November rolls around!

I think I may be participating this year, too. I should have a good outline by then. Perfect timing.

It would be great to try at least. I've put it off so many times before. With as much writing as you've done already, it should be a little easier. You can do it! :) I'll be right there along with you. We can encourage each other.

Jessica--thanks for the extra push! I think I'm gonna do it.

Miranda and Kelsey--you guys should try to do it too! I mean even if you fail at least it gets you to write a lot. right? ANd trust me, there is no chance on earth I can write 50k in a month...I've tried, but it does help you write more.

DOOOOOO IIIITTTTT!!!! You won't regret it, even if you don't win and you've got a billion words of crap written. The experience is fantastic. And be sure to get on the forums a lot because there is a bunch of stuff that helps get your mind into writing and your story and people are just really fun there. I've done it four years in a row, and only won once, but I wouldn't trade those months for anything! It really has effected my writing during November and the rest of the year too!

If you decide to do it, let me know. I'm making a list of book bloggers doing NaNoWriMo here: http://www.joyweesemoll.com/2011/10/25/nanowrimo/
I'll add you! Maybe we can all help each other.
