Good if...you want something with the perfect mixture of heartfelt moments, suspense, and sexy!
My Thoughts... Very pleasantly surprised!
I didn't quite know what to expect when I started reading this novel. It always kept popping up in my searches when I was looking on Amazon and I decided to give it a try. I'm very glad I did.
Rule Archer is your classic rebel. Tattoos, piercings, tortured soul. His twin brother, Remy--the good twin--died years ago and his parents are always trying to push Rule into becoming his brother. Rule won't have it and pretty much does his own thing. (Which is running his tattoo parlor.) Then there is Shaw Landon. She was Remy's girl and since his death she's stayed part of Rule's family. The novel starts with Shaw getting a naked Remy (whose tangled up with his latest one night stand) out of bed and into the car so they can drive together to the weekly Sunday brunch with his family.
My favorite part about this novel is the writing. I think the author initially published her book without good editing, but the version I read was edited fine. I felt like the writing was complete and thoughtful without a lot unneeded filler. The author's natural talent shines through. And both characters were very likable. Of course, Rule is my latest book-crush. But Shaw, even though she's constantly doing what other's want, was very kick-butt. And throughout the story--with the help of Rule--she grew and grew into her own skin.
Oh, and the sex scenes were steamy!! And not in a 50 Shades of Grey sort of way--the mechanics were never described in that much detail--but in a very unique, focus on the emotions, sort of way. You'll see what I mean if you read the novel.
It's also complete. No cliffhangers.
Bottom line: A must read!
And be sure to get your hands on JET by Jay Crownover too. It's the companion novel to Rule.
With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl's rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn't want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet's dark, haunted eyes. She's afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.
Jet can't resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he's tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.
Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?
